Truth
The Tuxedo Cat – Yellow Room, Tue Mar 6
The makers of the award-winning The Hermitude Of Angus, Ecstatic are back with another hilariously oddball show. The multitalented Vachel Spirason takes possession of a plasma ball whose mystical energy and crazy characters soon take possession of him. Excelling in accents, timing and dancing, Spirason nails characters such as Juan, the overly serious Spanish dancer, and Vaclav, the cross-eyed Czech chess player. Watch out for a hilarious homage to Salt-N-Pepa too. Aided by co-creator Stephanie Brotchie, who helps out as a disembodied hand, Truthis a beguiling mix of high-energy hilarity, storytelling and some very physical theatre – the front row is definitely not for people who are uncomfortable in the spotlight or with physical contact. Confounding, twisted and damn funny, the Truth may in fact be nothing but. In the end, the audience gets to decide what’s real and what’s just a figment of Spirason’s very whacky imagination.
Final word: Bonkers
Jenny Roesler
Truth continues at Tuxedo Cat – Yellow Room until Sat Mar 17.
